After nearly 20 years as a Deputy District Attorney in San Francisco, I started my successful Criminal Defense law practice in 1995. I've defended some of the most challenging cases, including Death Penalty cases, as well as people charged with DUIs, weapons, drugs, and sex crimes.
I've been named as a Northern California "Super Lawyer" for nine consecutive years from 2005 to 2014. I am a member of the exclusive and prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. I’ve taught courses at the law schools of the University of San Francisco, UC Hastings, Golden Gate University and Stanford University, as well as instructed members of law enforcement and attorneys about important matters in the area of criminal law at the San Francisco Police Academy, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, the California District Attorneys Association and the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA).

My grandparents emigrated from Italy to San Francisco at the turn of the 20th century. While attending Abraham Lincoln High School in the Sunset, I cracked crabs and sold walk-away shrimp cocktails at Alioto's #8 on Fisherman's Wharf. After earning a Master's Degree from San Francisco State University, I put myself through law school at USF by working full-time as a union printing pressman for the San Francisco Newspaper Agency.
After law school, I worked my way up the ranks of the San Francisco District Attorney's office, becoming one of the premier homicide prosecutors in the country. I tried over 150 violent felony cases to verdict and achieved a 90% conviction rate; 97% in sexual assault cases.
Since 1995, I have managed a successful Criminal Defense law practice. I've defended some of the most challenging cases, including Death Penalty cases, as well as people charged with DUIs, weapons, drugs, and sex crimes.
